About Your Research Assistant

Pam Kuhens is the owner of Your Research Assistant. She is an avid reader of nonfiction works and is deeply interested in a broad body of research topics. When you work with Pam, you will find that her genuine excitement about your research can be a strong positive influence. Here is a little more about her.

Before receiving her Master of Social Work with a Research Concentration, Pam studied music. For over ten years, she played and taught the French horn professionally. Her interest in psychology led her to begin a Master of Psychology, but ultimately she discovered her true passion lies in social work. Upon completing her MSW, she received the "Best Thesis Award" from Fordham University and immediately began working as the Research Assistant to the Ossining School District in Westchester, NY.

While at Ossining, Pam worked with more than 40 high school students who were at the end of a three-year "Science Research" track. Each year, these young researchers completed scientific, research-based articles. They entered their papers into competitions such as the Intel Science Talent Search and the Westchester Science and Engineering Fair. Pam has personally worked with several students who became semi-finalists and finalists of these competitions. In a mode that was both instructional and directive, she helped them hone their research and run and interpret their statistics. Many of them also received constructive commentary on their final products in the last few hours before their deadlines.

Recently, Pam left her job at Ossining after more than seven years in order to reduce commuter-related expenses. She is now happily working part-time at a no-kill animal sanctuary. In her free time, she consults with doctoral-level students in the fields of education and social work on their dissertation research and statistics. However, she misses working with young students who have fresh ideas and a true passion for their projects.
